Here are some songs to warm those of us who live in the cold and darkness in the north: In many ways I think this does a good job of describing the melancholia of living far to the north where it's dark most of the year.

This song 'touches' me...  Especially this line, I think: 'real life killed me on the school bus'. Or this one: 'real life happens on tv'

I've had a some (very little) contact with one of men in this band, sort of. He seems to be an incredibly nice guy. I love this song. What a shame it was the band's only hit song. Makes you wonder about what makes a hit song, doesn't it? On the other hand, he's also an actor and maybe that's what he should be.

I'm a big fan of 80's music. From what I can tell, without being an expert at music, the songs made in those days really were good, no matter how you define 'good'. In any case, I'm not the only one who thinks so. I rather like 90's music too, but not quite as much. The same goes for 7ö's music and older music as far back as to the 1950's.

Lately, I've begun to realize that at least in my opinion, the 90's was a time of great tv series and movies. That didn't dawn on me until relatively recently, when I was considering the lack of good tv series these days. Up until 2004 or so, there were still a few good series coming along and movies too, but from then on they've become more and more scarce. Fortunately, there are still exceptions but I'm dreading a future when no good tv or film will be made. But to use an expression from the Oz books: no need to borrow trouble. Here we say 'don't grieve over a day you haven't seen'. Who knows? The current penchant for 'reality' tv and game shows might vanish.

More Swedish. :)

Martin Stenmarck - Hundra år från nu (Blundar och håller andan lite till)

The title means A hundred years from now (I close my eyes and hold my breath a little longer)

Another Swedish song: Niclas Wahlgren - I himlen har jag aldrig varit (I've never been to heaven) I love this guy and I love this song, that he wrote for his son, Tim. Fatherly advice for a kid growing up.

If you’re interested, check out this video, to see what Niclas looked like in the mid 1980’s. The clip is from a movie, so taken out of context it will most likely be incomprehensible, but it will show you the young Niclas. Here is another one (you don’t need to watch the whole clip) from the late 1990’s, of Niclas and his sister Pernilla. Finally, this clip is from last year, again you’ll see Niclas and his sister.

First I must warn my readers (listeners/viewers) that this song is in Swedish. It's a great song, by a guy I'm crazy about. His girlfriend will have to forgive me. LOL.
