That's it. I will have to translate my Wallander fics into English. When I read the result of an online translation, I realized that this couldn't go on. You have no idea how stupid it looks. I certainly hope no one thinks I write that badly in reality. Translating is such a bore. I'd been hoping to be able to wait a while longer, but since there's a demand, I'll just have to do it. Actually, it might be a good thing for another reason too. At least I try to tell myself that. If I get to work on something, I might be able to get back to writing again, and if so I just might be able to finish my novel, at long last. I hope so anyway.

I have so much respect and admiration for anyone who can write in English if it isn't their first language. I don't know if this is the case for you, but I know it's got to be a challenge to translate a story from Swedish to English. However, I'm sure it helps that there's a demand for your stories and maybe it will motivate you to return to your novel.

I haven't read the Wallander books, but I recently saw the Kenneth Branagh series on PBS. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for those English translations. :-)

Thanks. :) English isn't my first language (but I've been learning it since I was about two).

Actually my stories are based on the Swedish tv series/movies and I haven't read most of the books either. I have seen the British series and I liked them (one of them was about the same as the Swedish ones and two of them were much better.) :)

What [livejournal.com profile] rusty_armour said!

By "online translation" do you mean Babelfish? If so, I find it's highly useful for totally surrealist poetry production, but not much else. Look forward to Wallander.

Thanks :)

Yes, that's the thing. And yes, surreal is one way of putting it. :) But you should see translations made from German or even worse - Finnish. They're barely understandable.

I hope you're feeling better now. Take care.
