Why? What's not to like about that? Ok, to be honest, I'm rather picky and I could wish for some other actors (other than Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law), but slash is always nice. It can brighten a dark day.

I'm planning to boycott Ritchie's film myself -- but only because I don't agree with his vision of Sherlock Holmes in terms of what his strengths and characteristics should be. From what I've read, Ritchie seems to think that logic and deductive reasoning are boring and unimportant and would prefer to have Holmes beating the crap out of criminals instead. I'd actually be okay with a gay treatment of Sherlock Holmes if Holmes was Holmes rather than a mindless thug.

Oh, I didn't know that was how it would turn out. But like you say, a gay Sherlock Holmes would be fun.

Well, that was according to one article I read, which quoted Ritchie saying as much. Unless there's been some changes in the script, I'm guessing Holmes is still going to be more of a thug than a deductive reasoner. I did see Holmes doing one thing in the movie trailer that seemed scientific. However, he was fighting and/or clowning around throughout the rest of it.

I agree with rusty_armour about the portrayal, but I do like that they're putting a slashy spin on it. Personally, I think the relationship between Holmes and Watson was already pretty gay, but that might just be because I have slash glasses.

I'm glad you and rusty_armour told me about that movie. Explains why it didn't strike me as very interesting the first time I heard about it. It was just the gay angle that got me. Oh, well, there's always my own old fan fiction (and a couple that I'm planning on writing some day.)
